Diamond Red Clover Silage
- Intensive silage mixture which is designed for 3-4 years
- Moira and Fintona are among the highest performing ryegrass varieties under silage Index on the 2024 Pasture Profit Index
- Huge potential to reduce chemical N in the produced of winter fodder
- Will continue as a normal grass sward with white clover afterwards
- White clover will fill spaces created by red clover dying out
- Produces high protein and high digestibility silage
- Can be grazed and important not to over graze red clover
- Stock and machinery damage to sward can shorten lifespan of red clover – target field operations in dry spell
- Conservation of dry crop is more critical with a high clover sward – target lighter crops that are easier to wilt
- Clover will only provide Nitrogen to the sward. Other mineral requirements, especially P and K will need to be applied to match herbage off take
- Clover is heavier and more free flowing seed than grass seed, so it is important to calibrate seed drills before sowing
