Description
Fil Detail Brush On Tail Paint is a water based fluorescent paint for detection of oestrus activity / heat detection.
Detail Paint is a specially formulated water based paint that is quick and simple to apply to the tailhead of cows and heifers to identify animals in heat.
Features:
- Quick and easy to apply 500ml bottle with applicator brush attached.
- Lasts up to 4 weeks / 28 days subject to correct application and conditions
- Comes in four bright colours: RED, BLUE, GREEN and YELLOW…allows you to monitor the breeding status of the whole herd.
- Non-irritating, weather resistant. Contains bittering agent to stop cows licking it off.
Application:
Apply a strip of paint 15cm long by 5cm wide forward along the spine from the tail head.
Animals expressing oestrus activity or “standing heat” will have their patch rubbed due to the pressure of other animals riding/mounting them.
This will even identify cows that are in heat for a short time, often missed by visual observation.
FIL’s Mating Management System:
FIL’s Mating Management System has been developed to provide a way to track your herd’s reproductive activity. It should be used in conjunction with Tell Tail paints for optimal results.
1. To map each cow’s progress through the reproductive cycle, the Mating Management System starts with the application of red tail paint 3 weeks after calving.
Once applied, monitor the painted region for signs of rubbing to indicate the cow is commencing her reproductive cycle. (NB. If there are no signs of such activity, veterinary attention may be required).
2. Apply green tail paint before commencement of artificial insemination (AI)
3. Once a cow has been artificially inseminated, apply blue tail paint.
4. Mark cows with yellow paint once pregnancy has been confirmed.
Tips for applying paint:
– Remove loose hairs and ensure the area is clean and dry before applying tail paint.
– Apply the tail paint as a 15cm strip along the spine starting from the tail.
